Sports

Hi, I'm known as koala on the Carolina Panthers' bulletin board.  I also am the founder of the CAJUN SPICE PANTHER FAN CLUB. Welcome to my sports page.  Most of the stuff I get into here is concerning either local teams or local athletes.  At the moment; the team and player that's getting much of my attention is the Carolina Panthers with QB Jake Delhomme of Breaux Bridge, LA. That's about 5 miles as the crow flies from my home.  We're very proud of  what Jake's done lately.  Geaux Jake !!  Geaux Panthers !!

After a kinda slow start, Jake has come on with a couple 300+ yard passing games in the last 3 weeks.  It does help that his receivers are finally starting to hold onto the passes.   I don't care how talented you are; it's a team sport and one player can't do it all by themselves. Now that the Panthers have defeated the world champion Bucs for not one, but two times this year;  they're finally beginning to get a little respect.  I don't know if that's good or bad.  Some of these players aren't used to the attention and may have trouble dealing with being a favorite.  After all; they're only 2 years removed from the worst season in NFL history.  That being said; John Fox will not allow them to get cocky or lackadaisical.  There's no Sapp or Keyshawn here to suck up all the oxygen.  Most of the guys on this team are blue-collar workers who punch the clock and go to work each day…...and  are glad to have a job to go to.  Leading the way with their lunch pails and silver and black hard hats, is Stephen Davis.  All he does is run over you.  Next you have a low-key defensive line that doesn't say much off the field…..but crushes you on the field.  Add to this a fantastic special teams group led by Kasey, Smart, and Smith, and ya got something special. Last but not least; is Jake Delhomme; an everyman type quarterback who did nothing but set passing records in college, yet wasn't even drafted by any NFL team.  He straps it on and comes to play. All he knows how to do is give it everything he has and play his heart out.  Usually that translates to victories. With the kind of leadership on this team, and the un-assuming, humble confidence  they exude week after week; it's hard to believe this Panther team is destined for anything short of greatness.  At this writing; the record is 8-2…...still a ways to go; but steady  progress is being made each week.  This is a pretty young team with a new system to absorb.  I feel very good about our chances to reach the Superbowl this year.

GEAUX  PANTHERS !!   GEAUX  JAKE!1
